WHAT IS THE CHILD DENTAL BENEFITS SCHEDULE?
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a dental benefits program for eligible children aged 2-17 years. It provides up to $1,095 in benefits to the child for basic dental services, from January 1st 2024.
Services that receive a benefit under the program include examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealants, fillings, root canals, extractions and partial dentures. Some of these services have claiming restrictions. The payment of benefits under the CDBS will be administered through the Department of Human Services.
For further information on the CDBS please go to:
At Dentists on Starkey we will bulk bill most procedures under the CDBS. This means that eligible children will have no out-of-pocket expenses for checks, cleans or fissure sealants and fillings. Our aim is to educate both the child and their parent or guardian so that fillings are not required.
At Dentists on Starkey all our staff are highly trained in the particular needs of providing children's oral care to the highest standards in the gentlest ways. Additionally, your child will be able to see the same dentist for each and every appointment, for consistency and comfort. Importantly, this allows for the development of a trusting relationship between you, your child and your treating dentist and auxiliary staff. The value of this good experience will shape your child's perception to dental treatment for life.
Please advise our reception staff of your child's eligibility for the CDBS when making an appointment. We are required to confirm your child's eligibility and remaining benefits prior to each and every appointment and use different item numbers for Medicare.
